These wood trees are super easy to make and what I really love about them is the unlimited ways to customize them. You could paint a solid color, dry brush, or paint and sand for a rustic look.
To start get three short 1x4s and a fourth one to use as the backer, or use a thin strip of wood like I did.

Move your miter saw to cut on 20 degree angles, and make the following cuts.
The bottom piece is 6 inches from long point to long point. The middle piece is 4 1/4 inches from long point to long point. The top is 2 1/2 inches from long point to long point.

Trim your back piece so it is not overhanging. Attach is to the boards using a stapler or brad nailer. I am using a narrow crown stapler with 5/8 long staples. Put a piece on the bottom to keep the two wood pieces even.

Here is the backside once stapled.

I used a watered down green paint for a washed look here.

I love preserving time and putting handprints on decorations!
Show me your trees that you’ve made!
