Just a small-town girl… who built my own empire

My journey to get to a six-figure Etsy biz hasn’t been a straight line…  From scared girl starting at the stair shop to back to college to corporate world (ugh) to back to woodworking…….

I remember the day it hit me how a corporate career really ended, a guy at work retired after 50 years of service, and all he got was a cake and a plaque!

Can you imagine?

No sense of accomplishment in owning your own business, no freedom to care for your family, just two weeks of vacation each year, and no creativity in your day to light you up.

I wanted to do something more with my life. Plus, it killed me to leave my son at a babysitter and not know what time I would be able to pick him up.

I knew I was made for more, and God was preparing me for it.

After a few years of selling a few products on Etsy part-time and contemplating how I could make this hobby an actual business, one night while making supper it all clicked.

I said yes to myself that night and I decided to go full-time as an Etsy shop owner. I learned (the hard way) the Etsy tricks of the trade and built my shop up to replace my 8-5 income.

After successfully running my shop on my own for a few years, another spark lit up inside of me…

I knew I wanted to teach other women how to open their own Etsy shops and make a full-time income.

I thought about it day and night and couldn’t get it off my mind. I knew I was so blessed to have worked and learned woodworking at the stair shop years ago. Most others don’t get an opportunity like that.

Everyone was always asking me, can you teach me to make that?

Now, I’ve made that dream come true too, teaching women Woodworking AND how to become successful Etsy shop owners.

Things I love: The smell of sawdust, my family, and above all, showing women how to expand their woodworking skills, from cutting it, nailing it, sanding it, and selling it!

I started woodworking 15 years ago in a custom stairs shop. I was the low girl on the ladder when starting and I worked my way up to having my own workbench. I had some great teachers along the way, and I want aspiring Etsy shop owners to have a good mentor too!

Most crafters need to expand their skill set so they can create unique items, so they aren’t limited to a hot glue gun and string.

After the housing market crash in 2009 I went back to college. From there I landed an 8-5 office job with benefits and retirement. While I was working full time, I felt like I had to choose between my family and work every day. I did woodworking projects as a side hobby and slowly started up my Etsy business. Then I knew I wanted to take my Etsy shop to a full-time gig, but I needed to increase sales to make that happen.

I started small with just a few products, learned the Etsy business the hard way over the years, and now I’m here to teach all of you the tricks of my trade!
